Divorce is a journey that most people face with the craving of knowledge and information. What we want to know could be about the divorce process, co-parenting, divorce laws, financial issues, dating after divorce, keeping the house, and more. The desire for information often leads people to Google searches. But what are the google trends for divorce? In other words, what are divorcing men and women Googling?

Here are 10 things people getting divorced search frequently on Google:

    1. “How to co-parent with a difficult ex” tops the list in Google trends for divorce. What this shows is that for most parents, maintaining a healthy relationship for the children’s sake remains a primary concern.

    2. “Dating after divorce at 40.” This reflects the uncertainty many feel about re-entering the dating world in middle age and/or after a long-term marriage.

    3. “Signs your ex wants you back.” This search indicates the complex emotions and second thoughts that often surface during and post-divorce.

    4. “How to tell kids about divorce.” This reveals the heart-wrenching challenge of explaining separation to your children.

    5. “Moving on after divorce depression.” This search highlights the mental health struggles many face, before, during and after divorce.

    6. “Financial recovery after divorce.” This demonstrates the practical concerns about rebuilding financial indepenedence.

    7. “Who gets the house in divorce.” This search shows the anxiety around what is in many cases the couple’s highest-valued asset. The home also involves emotion. People struggle with moving to a new house, perhaps renting, or the thought of moving when their are so many other changes taking place.

    8. “Finding yourself after divorce” reflects the journey of rediscovering personal identity and figuring out what your life is going to be like moving forward.

    9. “How long does divorce grief last.” People search this because the sadness and emotional pain can feel unbearable, and they truly want to heal and move on.

    10. “Single parent success stories. ” This suggests that they are seeking inspiration and hope for their new chapter.

What these Google trends show is that people facing divorce want information. They want their pain soothed. They want to feel better. They want to be empowered. They want to reduce their stress. Information offers it.

There is another way to get information, perhaps a better way. What is it? Surround yourself with divorce professionals who can educate you, empower you, help reduce your anxiety, and help you make better decisions during and after divorce.

Yes, there is a fee to work with professionals, but what we hope is that the outcome of your divorce not only offsets the cost, but gives you results that lead to a divorce outcome you are happy with, and a post-divorce life you love.

I am a financial divorce coach, who can help you through your divorce by assisting you in: figuring out what’s important to you, knowing what to ask for, learning tax implications of your decision, deciding if you want to keep the house, developing a solid financial plan, and so many other financially related matters.

There are also divorce coaches who tackle more of the emotional side of divorce. They can help you find yourself after divorce, or learn how to co-parent with a difficult ex, or move through your grieving process. A therapist can help you with depression or talking to your kids about divorce. A dating coach can coach you through the process of dating.

My point is, there are answers to every question you have. Sometimes they just take time to figure out, and most times, having a trained professional help you cuts that time. I’m talking about efficiency and quality of outcome. Yes, Google is convenient, and might be good place to start, but it’s the divorce team you put together who will help you finish the process strong.
