Can Venmo Reveal Your Partner’s Cheating?

Can Venmo Reveal Your Partner’s Cheating?

Venmo can seem harmless. It’s where you send your friends money for concert tickets, pay your dog sitter, or reimburse your coworker for your Starbucks order.

But here’s what most people don’t realize: Venmo can provide a timeline of what people are doing in their spare time and who they’re sharing money with.

It might not be the first app you think about if you’re trying to catch a cheater. But it can be extremely revealing.

Most cheaters are careful about their texts and DMs, but many of them don’t even realize that Venmo can be used as a tool to uncover their double life.

If something feels off in your relationship, it might be time to check out their feed. Here’s how you can use Venmo to catch your partner cheating.

Venmo Transactions That Could Mean They’re Cheating

If your partner’s Venmo feed is public (or if they give you access to their phone), it’s important to pay attention to patterns. Patterns are what will help you determine what they’re really doing in their spare time.

Here are some of the things you’ll want to keep an eye out for.

    Repeated Transactions to One Person

    One payment? Maybe nothing.

But late-night drinks every Thursday? Weekly coffee?

If your partner is constantly sending or receiving money from one person, it should raise a red flag. If you’ve never heard of that person, that flag becomes even redder.

While they might have a co-worker who’s always grabbing lunch or coffee for everyone in the office, you’ll want to pay attention to the dates and times transactions are being made.

Transactions That Don’t Match Their Excuses

Pay attention to the dates when your significant other said they were sick, working late, staying in for the night, or otherwise unavailable to see you.

If their Venmo history shows that they went out to dinner or to a movie with a “friend,” it tells you everything you need to know about what they were really doing that night. This can be a huge red flag for cheating.

    Flirty Messages or Emojis

Most people don’t send flirty emojis to their coworkers. If your partner is sending money to a “friend” with a heart or kissing emoji, let’s be real. It means something.

It’s also important to note what they write in their transactions. Something like “miss you” or “a great night” is definitely indicative of cheating.

Personal Care Services For Someone Else

If your partner is paying for someone else’s hair appointment, pedicure, manicure, or spa day, it’s important to ask yourself why.

People don’t just pay for personal care services for a “friend.” These investments happen when we’re emotionally or physically invested in someone. If they’re paying for someone else’s personal care, they’re probably cheating on you.

Transactions From When You Were Fighting

Remember when you got into that big argument last March? If there’s a transaction that indicates they were out having drinks with someone else that week, that can tell you everything you need to know.

    Travel-Related Transactions

Is there a transaction labeled “hotel” or “weekend getaway”? Ask yourself why “Jennifer” (who you’ve never heard of) is splitting the cost of an Airbnb. Is there an Uber transaction from when your partner supposedly went to their friend’s wedding alone? Did they go to Paris with someone when they claimed they were going to the beach for a family getaway?

Pay attention to the details. Because at the end of the day, details matter.

    The Bottom Line

The truth is, Venmo isn’t a confession. But it can give you some context about what your partner has been doing. And sometimes, that’s all you need to know that your partner is cheating.

If you suspect your partner could be cheating, it’s time to reevaluate your relationship. You deserve someone who makes you feel loved, worthy, and secure. You deserve someone who doesn’t make you question their intentions.
