If you’re single and are using dating apps, finding a love match based on your social values is high on the dating totem pole. Many apps such as OkCupid, Bumble, Match, and Tinder now allow you to proudly display a pro-climate change or environmentalism badge in your list of interests in your profiles to show your support for the environment.
I spoke with San Francisco Examiner writer Jessica Wolfrom about this topic and the growing interest singles have in crucial issues such as voter rights, pro-choice, and gun control that are top of mind.

Michael Kaye, OkCupid’s Head of Global Communications, told the Examiner, “People who publicized their anxiety about the planet had 32% more conversations, received 44% more likes and racked up measurably more matches on OkCupid.”

With the growing trend of singles looking for a meaningful relationship with in-person dating in full swing this summer, talking about how many countries you visited as a frequent traveler isn’t as appealing as indicating you care about issues plaguing our world.
It’s actually a sexy thing to care about the environment,” said Spira. “If somebody doesn’t care about our world, will they be a good match for you? And most people will say, no, they won’t.
The days of who you voted for seem to pale compared to questions including, are you a voter, what’s your position on women’s health, and how do you feel about gun control?
By adding one of these issues and including a climate change-related topic or badge to your dating profile, you’ll attract potential dates with the same concerns about global warming and environmental and weather changes. I believe that’s a good thing.
