Have You Gotten Your Valentine Yet?

Have You Gotten Your Valentine Yet?

Once again, the town is painting red.

Yeah, it’s that time of the year again.

Not again! I know. That’s exactly what I said when I passed by a shop this morning, and all the dresses in the front row were red.

What’s up, singles! How do you do? Any plans for 14th Feb, yet?

Nothing much. I am doing fine. Just the usual — work, eat, watch a movie, sleep.

    …

Seriously, though, why is it a big deal, and why must I explain myself? Why do we have to? I know I can’t be alone. Fellow singles back me up here. C’mon!

People around me are making it seem like it’s the end of the world to be single on valentines day. I have always been single. Have I died? I wouldn’t even know what day it is if I weren’t surrounded by all this Valentine’s Day fuss.

I am a chill person when it comes to relationships. There are some moments I wish I were in a relationship, and I always promise to be nicer to guys each year. But when it comes, I feel annoyed and suffocated.

I am having fun writing this, but I also know that there are also people who get affected by the fact that they are gonna be single on Valentine’s Day, again. I am sorry. I hope things turn out as you desire for yourself next year, or even next week — there are still a few days left until the 14th.

My friend is an example, and I have run out of ideas to make her understand that there’s so much in life to celebrate other than Valentine’s Day. Forexample, the fact that she and I have no debt and aren’t worried about what we are going to wear or eat the following day. And it was never always like that.

So, she and I have a reason to dress up on Valentine’s and go out ourselves. And so do you. I am sure you have moments that have happened in your life. Believe me, I have had quite a bit of my own share of life in my twenty-nine years, and if I can celebrate, you sure can too.

And as I write this, I am thinking about it. People in a relationship should celebrate and love eachother everyday. So why is just one day such a big deal? You can love and show affection to eachother anytime.

Dear single girl/boy, one of these days — it doesn’t have to be the 14th of Feb, pick a day and treat yourself. Take pictures to remember and make that moment last.

As for me, since it’s going to be on a Saturday and I have no work. If I don’t go out with my friend, I will pay a visit to the hospital. Maybe someone there will make use of the package I will carry.

Happy valentines to you all! Let’s make moments last on this Valentine’s Day.
