Reflecting on cuffing season and the Christmas holidays, open-minded dating app Flure has asked its users a simple question: “Did you call your ex?”. The results demonstrate how the holiday period can affect how singles behave.
In a survey of over 2000 Flure users from the U.S., the dating app shared that 72% experienced the urge to contact an ex during the Christmas holidays.
One user explained “there’s something about the holiday spirit that makes you nostalgic. Dating apps are like my safety net – connecting with new people and avoiding those ex-text pitfalls”.
45% of users admitted that they had called their ex during the festive season, with 81% of that group saying they ultimately regretted the decision.
Overall, many users were determined to start 2024 with fresh dating experiences. “Flure’s gamified chats with cool strangers helped me shift focus. Lesson learned – next year, I’m focusing on the present, not the past”, one user shared.
