A newly released dating app, Swept Dating, is positioning itself as a response to persistent frustrations in the online-dating sector: users who ghost, fake identities, or apply superficial matching criteria. Launched on 28 October 2025, the app claims to leverage verified identities, personality science and artificial-intelligence accountability to improve the quality of connections.
According to the company, Swept Dating introduces three major features designed to tackle key pain points:
- An anti-ghosting mechanism that tracks unacknowledged messages and flags repeat offenders, giving users more transparency about responsiveness and follow-through.
- An optional identity-verification workflow powered by Stripe Identity, intended to help ensure that users are who their profile photos claim they are, aiming to reduce instances of catfishing.
- Matching based on the HEXACO personality model and AI-powered behavioural data, rather than purely photo-driven swiping, with the goal of generating more emotionally balanced and compatible pairings.
Founder and CEO Rob Kennedy, a former Amazon manager who self-funded the app, said: “People deserve honesty and closure. Ghosting shouldn’t be the norm; it should be the exception.”
Swept Dating is likely leaning into the fact that swipe fatigue has become an increasingly-present issue, with more and more users wanting to turn away from a conventional dating app system. Tackling flaws like ghosting at the source would allow for a more trustworthy dating experience, something that could make a big difference in user retention even if they don’t find a match as fast as expected.
However, like all new app launches, the current user base is still somewhat limited. Time will tell if the platform manages to secure the success it needs to snowball into a more widely-used dating platform – and if its promises of a smoother and more reliable dating experience will be scalable as more and more users join.
