Tinder has announced the launch of its Safe Dating Guide for Women and Dissidents in Mexico in partnership with local feminist collective, LUCHADORAS MAX. The guide comes as Tinder continues working in partnership with the collective to use its knowledge, research and experience of technology and violence against women to develop the dating app’s safety efforts.
The Tinder Safe Dating Guide for Women and Dissidents provides advice and recommendations encouraging users to date more safely online. The guide aims to limit the risk of possible deceptions and create a safer, more pleasant experience on Tinder.
“Online experiences have not been easy for all women, since the patriarchal structures that have historically violated us sneak into technologies, and this has been able to reach dating apps. Promoting collective and intersectional reflections on how we build safe spaces online is key to moving towards safer, fun and co-responsible experiences when we connect with others on Tinder,” says Alicia Reynoso, Head of Strategic Advocacy at LUCHADORAS MX.
Speaking about the new guide, Rodrigo Fontes, Global VP of Marketing at Tinder, said: “At Tinder, we recognize that feeling safe is personal and differs between each user, so our safety efforts are based on helping prevent, intervene and interrupt potential harm.”
He continued: “We are constantly investing in ways to keep users safe while using Tinder, including a robust set of safety features, in-app education, and today, understanding the local context of Mexico with the support of valuable experts like LUCHADORAS MX, we have this new Guide made by women for women.”
The Tinder Safe Dating Guide for Women and Dissidents comes shortly after Tinder updated its reporting process, making it easier for users to report and block suspicious accounts and other users who engage in inappropriate behaviour.
