Grindr Expands AI Integration with New Premium Features

Grindr has announced a suite of AI-powered enhancements alongside expanded details on its premium subscription offerings, as the LGBTQ+ dating platform continues its transformation into an “AI-first” or “AI-native” company.

CEO George Arison emphasized Grindr’s rapid adoption of emerging technologies, noting that AI already generates about 70% of the app’s code. “Grindr is becoming an AI-native company,” Arison said, positioning the 15-year-old platform as one rebuilt with intelligence embedded at every layer rather than bolted-on features.

The premium tier – currently in beta testing in Australia, New Zealand, select U.S. cities, and Canada – targets frequent users seeking efficiency and reduced scrolling time. It unlocks three core AI-driven tools that have been in testing since back in 2025:

• Discover: Personalized daily profile suggestions based on user interactions, helping surface higher-quality matches faster.
• Profile Insights: Provides compatibility signals, including response likelihood and alignment with preferences, giving users more context before messaging.
• A-List: Uses AI to summarize and resurface past conversations, making it easier to reconnect with meaningful contacts.

Alongside these already-known features, additional AI investments include:

• A Health Center (initial U.S. launch) offering education on sexual health, wellness, metabolic health, weight management, and related topics.
• Smart Inbox, which prioritizes conversations with higher potential for meaningful outcomes.
• Enhanced search capabilities drawing from prior chatbot learnings to better match preferences (planned for a future paid tier).

Grindr is also expanding its heat map to include local venues like bars, clubs, restaurants, and gyms, with tests for direct hotel booking integration. Safety remains a priority, with ongoing AI improvements to detect bad actors, reduce spam, and enforce community guidelines.

Arison stressed user choice: “The traditional Grindr that people know and love is going to stay – all of this is an enhancement… But we are by no means saying people must use it this way.”
