Global dating app Match has launched a new feature to tackle dating app burnout. The new feature ‘72 Hours’ gives singles three days to match and connect with singles in their area before these chats disappear.

From Monday to Thursday, singles on Match will be given the opportunity to sign up for the 72 Hours experience. At 4pm on Thursdays the feature goes live, with daters being shown a map-view of their local area and 15 other singles who are looking for the same thing.

The new feature will remain active until midnight on Sundays, giving singles a limited window to match and meet for a date over the weekend. 72 Hours looks to prompt singles to start meaningful conversations and go on dates, avoiding swiping fatigue.

“Singles are fatigued with dating apps; they are seeking real, meaningful connection,” said Dushyant Saraph, General Manager of Match.

“As the iconic brand that changed the way we date, we want to take on daters’ frustrations and improve the dating app process. With 72 Hours, we’re providing a space that better aligns with singles’ intentions to see conversations through with others who want to do the same, bring more fun to the dating experience, and create more real-life connection”, he added.

Inspiration from the feature came from Match’s annual Singles in America study, where it was found that 64% of online daters report feeling burnt out in their dating lives.

The 72 Hours feature will be available to Match users in New York this week, with a nationwide roll out expected over the coming months.
