Worrying statistics show that the wage gap is real, and it disproportionately affects Latina women in the United States. Chispa, the Match Group dating app for Latine singles, is launching a campaign to raise awareness and share financial support.

A Forbes report from earlier this year found that Latina women are still earning just 54 cents for each dollar their white male counterparts makes. Ahead of Latina Equal Pay Day on October 5, Chispa is launching a campaign around this issue.

During the first week of October, Chispa’s social platforms will invite Latina women to share stories of their experience with the pay gap. Ten selected women will receive a $500 cash prize, “turning digital activism into tangible support”, the platform announced.

Additionally, Chispa users in this period are invited to proudly display the  “Jefa” (bosslady) sticker on their profiles as a symbol of solidarity with Latina women.

Users who take part in this empowering visual statement will receive a complimentary profile boost, amplifying visibility of their profile.

“The wage gap isn’t just a number; it’s about dreams deferred and opportunities missed. Latinas understand this struggle intimately, and it’s time we act. Together, we can bridge the wage gap, break down barriers, and create a future where all Latinas receive the pay, recognition, and empowerment they deserve”, the platform shared.

Chispa is actively engaged with advocacy and empowerment initiatives for its Latine demographic. Earlier this year it created an advocacy council, supported Pride Month, and helped users access wellness resources.

GDI’s Senior Reporter Sean Nolan sat down with Julia Estacolchic, Head of Marketing & Brand at Chispa, to discuss the platform’s advocacy efforts in an episode of The GDI Podcast.
