With Election Day fast approaching, Tinder is bridging the gap between online dating and civic duty with the launch of its new Take Action Center. This in-app feature is aimed at making voting information accessible to its large user base, particularly Gen Z and young millennials, who are known for their active participation in both dating apps and political engagement.
Tinder reports that 44% of single voters under the age of 36 use dating apps, and 70% of its users plan to vote in the upcoming election. To support this, Tinder has partnered with Vote.org to provide resources such as voter registration links, absentee ballot deadlines, polling locations, and early voting sites, all conveniently located within the app.
The Take Action Center also offers users the chance to display “I Voted” stickers on their profiles, adding a civic touch to the dating experience. Offline, Tinder is hosting a food truck in partnership with Vote.org during Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour in Indianapolis. Concertgoers will receive voting information alongside food, helping Tinder users and others stay informed about polling locations, even if they’re from out of state.
Many past studies and surveys have shown that political leanings are a vital part of dating compatibility, and Tinder has embrace that fact in several very direct ways. This new Take Action Center is just another step towards making their younger audience get interested in voting.
