Merry Marriage: 7 Days of Festive Connection

December is magical… and also absolutely jam-packed. Between school performances, shopping, wrapping, family gatherings, and managing the chaos that magically multiplies every time you turn around, it’s way too easy for connection to fall to the bottom of the list.

But here’s the truth most couples forget:

You don’t need big, elaborate dates to feel close. You just need consistent, intentional moments… especially during the busiest month of the year.

That’s exactly why I created the Merry Marriage Challenge — a simple, cozy, flirty, totally doable seven-day marriage challenge designed to help you reconnect in small, meaningful ways all December long!

    Make Your Marriage Merry

If you were part of our Operation: Flirtation challenge in October, then you know that we’re big believers in small-but-mighty sparks of intention. That challenge was such a hit (seriously, you all crushed it!) that I couldn’t resist creating a holiday-themed mini challenge to help you and your sweetheart stay connected through the joyful December madness.

Introducing The Merry Marriage Challenge: 7 Days of Festive Connection — a cozy + flirty way to reconnect in small, meaningful moments. No big prep, no huge time blocks, just seven intentional sparks that help you feel like teammates again.

And bonus? A 7-day challenge is the perfect warm-up to our 10 Minute Marriage Challenge (if you haven’t tried it, it’s a total game changer).

But first… let’s bring back that December magic.

Holiday lights make connection feel magical.

Your 7 Days of Flirty & Festive Connecting

Before we dive in, think of this as seven tiny sparks of intention — little moments that help you slow down, breathe together, and find each other again, even in the swirl of December. Nothing complicated. Nothing overwhelming. Just cozy, flirty, heart-strengthening connection.

The Merry Marriage Challenge for Couples:

Day 1: Start With a Holiday Compliment

A genuine compliment is the fastest way to melt stress and reconnect. Tell your spouse something warm, thoughtful, or flirty about them — their laugh, their kindness, their hard work, or (for a fun twist) your favorite thing about them this time of year.

Research shows compliments increase emotional closeness, and during the holidays that little boost matters even more.

Day 2: Do One Small Act of Cozy Service

Light a candle before they get home. Warm up their side of the bed with a heated blanket. Make them a warm drink. Scrape their windshield. Put fresh towels in the bathroom.

Small comforts = big connection. This boosts safety, appreciation, and the “I see you” feeling marriages thrive on

    Day 3: A Twinkle-Light Touch Moment

Tonight, share a 20-second hug or kiss in front of warm holiday lights — Christmas tree lights, outdoor lights, or even a simple strand wrapped around the banister.

Why? Lighting changes the emotional tone instantly. Add warmth → add intimacy.

    Day 4: Share a Memory-Lane Moment

Tell your spouse one holiday memory that means something to you — from childhood or from your relationship. Then ask them to share one back!

Flirty twist: Share your favorite romantic holiday memory with them. This creates emotional depth without heaviness — perfect for seasonal intimacy.

One spouse offering a warm drink to the other in a cozy living room decorated for Christmas, creating a thoughtful, tender moment.
A tiny act of service can warm the whole day.

Day 5: A Mini Holiday Treat Date

This is your one “small activity” day. Grab a festive treat together:
    – hot cocoa
    – peppermint shakes
    – donuts
    – cookies
    – holiday pastries

Enjoy it in the car after bedtime, or curled up on the couch.

    10 minutes. Sweet. Simple. Connection-boosting.

Day 6: Send a Flirty Holiday Text

A tiny spark goes a long way. Send something cute, playful, or spicy-but-sweet:

    • “Meet me under the mistletoe later?”
    • “You make my heart melt faster than a snowman in summer.”
    • “Feeling cozy and craving you.”

This keeps the fun alive in the middle of holiday chaos.

Day 7: Warm Hugs Only (Your Choice How Warm 😉)

End the challenge with intentional affection. Hug in the kitchen. Cuddle on the couch. Slow dance to Christmas music. Kiss until you forget your to-do list.

Intimacy doesn’t require a giant window of time — just presence.

A husband and wife standing close together in a Christmas-lit living room, smiling warmly at each other as they share a sweet moment.
A sweet compliment goes a long way.

Seven days, seven sparks — and hopefully a few mistletoe kisses along the way. These simple moments really do add up, and I hope this little challenge brought more warmth, laughter, and flirtiness into your holiday season!
