The Starsign, Cancer, dominates the top 10, and the data backs it
Tarotoo can report that every state in the top 10 is Cancer-dominant. This suggests that emotional sensitivity, loyalty, and family-focused values, traits traditionally associated with Cancer, are strongly linked to relationship stability and romantic success.
Idaho is the most loved-up state in the US
Idaho tops Tarotoo’s Loved-Up Index with a score of 8.87/10, thanks to the highest marriage household rate (54.6%) and a strong marriage rate of 21.25 per 1,000 adults. The state also has a relatively low divorce rate (6.55 per 1,000 adults), and only 29% of adults have never married, suggesting relationships are both forming and lasting. Compared with states like New York (42% married households) and Louisiana (41.6%), Idaho’s family stability is clearly higher.
Kansas ranks second as the most loved-up state
Kansas ranks second with a Loved-Up Index score of 8.63, driven by 49.1% married households, 19.2% with children, and a low divorce rate of 6.10 per 1,000 adults. Only 31.3% of adults have never married, and the state’s marriage rate is 20.35 per 1,000, indicating a stable, long-term relationship pattern. The divorce rate is 30% lower than that of neighboring Oklahoma (9.71), indicating Kansas is notably more stable than many nearby states. Kansas also has low breakup (72/100) and divorce search activity (79/100), suggesting relationships are less likely to break down.
Utah ranks third on the list
Utah is third with a Loved-Up Index score of 8.58, led by the highest marriage rate in the dataset (24.45 per 1,000 adults) and the highest percentage of married households with children (26.5%). With 57.4% of households married and only 33.2% of adults never married, Utah shows a strong marriage culture. Its divorce rate is 6.79 per 1,000, significantly lower than high-divorce states like Oklahoma (9.71).

Why Virgos dominate the bottom 10
Virgo-dominant states make up most of the least loved-up places in the US, and the data explains why. Virgo energy is often associated with practicality, scepticism, and a more cautious approach to relationships, traits that can translate into fewer marriages, more breakups, and a stronger reliance on dating apps. In states like Louisiana, Mississippi and New Mexico, higher divorce rates and heavy dating app activity suggest that love may be more transactional or uncertain, rather than long-lasting and emotionally rooted.
Louisiana is the least loved-up state in the US
Louisiana ranks as the least loved-up state with a score of 5.01/10, driven by low marriage rates and high relationship instability. Just 41.6% of households are married, and only 14.9% have children, suggesting fewer long-term family units. The state also has a relatively high divorce rate (7.12 per 1,000 people) and heavy Google search activity for “divorce” (87/100), pointing to relationship breakdowns being a major part of life.
Mississippi ranks second for the least loved-up state
Mississippi sits just above Louisiana with a 5.11/10 loved-up score. While 43.4% of households are married, the state has the highest divorce rate among the bottom five at 8.66 per 1,000 people, showing serious relationship instability. Mississippi also ranks high for “divorce” searches (90/100) and has notable dating app activity (79/100), suggesting many residents are actively searching for new partners.
Psychic expert at Tarotoo, comments:
“These results aren’t too surprising from an astrology standpoint. Cancer is a water sign, and water signs tend to be emotionally driven, loyal, and family-focused, all traits that naturally support higher marriage rates and more stable relationships. So it makes sense that they dominate the top of the list.
Virgo, by contrast, is much more analytical and cautious. Virgos are picky, practical, and tend to overthink things, which can lead to more dating app use and more relationship uncertainty. It doesn’t mean people in these states don’t want love; they just approach it more carefully, which can show up as lower romantic stability in the data.
Other signs can also play a role. Air signs: Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius, are social and freedom-loving, which can mean more dating but less long-term commitment. Fire signs: Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius, bring passion and spontaneity, but not always staying power. And earth signs, Taurus, and Capricorn, value stability, but can be slow to open up emotionally, so they may not rank as highly on romantic indicators.”
