Okay kids, this is how I imagine I will meet your father.
I am 24.
Apparently, according to the universe’s imaginary timeline, I should have met him by now.
But life is unpredictable, slightly dramatic,so no, I haven’t met him yet.
There have been moments when I really thought, “Okay… this might be him.”
Spoiler alert: it wasn’t.
I judge too fast sometimes. I feel too much sometimes.
Still, I have a whole version of him planned in my head.
I even have a little “date list” ready ,not for flirting but staying up past my bedtime talking to him.
Sharing random thoughts. Laughing at stupid jokes that aren’t even funny.
And someday, I hope I get to say:
“When I let a day go by without talking to you…
um… that day is just no good.”
And kids, your mother , she’s dramatic, not perfect ,
She is just someone who believes that love doesn’t always arrive on schedule.
Sometimes it gets delayed. Sometimes it makes you question your patience.
I don’t know where I will meet him. Maybe accidentally. Maybe on a very ordinary day when I am not even trying.
Maybe when I have finally stopped checking timelines and comparing stories.
And one day, when you ask me how it all started, I will smile and tell you a really good story.
Not a perfect one.
Not a dramatic one.
Just a real one.
Even if it turns out to be a very ordinary one.
