Utah-based dating app ‘Mutual’ has announced plans to introduce a new speed dating feature in recognition of the burnout dating app users are experiencing.
“Burnout is something every dating app is dealing with — and not just dating apps,” Mutual President, Michael Patterson, said. “People are spending too much time on their phones.”
With people feeling burned out by dating apps, social media and general technology use, Mutual sought to introduce a more time-efficient dating solution targeting Gen Z users. The result is a new speed-dating feature that will offer users the opportunity to join a 15-minute online session, with daters able to message potential love interests back and forth for five minutes each.
“At the end of it, you can decide if you want to keep talking to that person or move on,” Patterson said.
The feature aims to lessen the time spent waiting for a match or reply on Mutual, in turn reducing how long users spend on the app and the potential of burnout occurring.
Mutual is the largest and fastest growing dating app for single members of The Church Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
