Meta has announced that the web version of Threads is being rolled out to users this week. Desktop PC users will be able to post, view and interact with Threads posts, however some functionality remains restricted for now.
SocialMediaToday reported that post scheduling and search capabilities are not available on Threads’ web version at the moment, however it is something the Meta team are working on.
Despite gaining over 100 million users during its initial launch period, Threads’ active user base has gradually been declining. The launch of the web version could see a revival of activity as key content creators could soon return to the app.
As Elon Musk takes a critical stance on journalists on X, SocialMediaToday theorises that these content creators could soon flock to Threads and its web version.
“The lack of a desktop posting process has been an impediment in this regard, as journalists haven’t been able, thus far, to keep an active Threads window open to monitor activity, or post to the app as they manage their other platforms. Businesses too have been limited in this respect, which is why this could be a key development, and could re-ignite interest in the app”, the article outlined.
