Tinder on Fire at Paris Games: Olympian Profiles Skyrocket by 52%

The 2024 Paris Olympics have sparked a surge in activity on Tinder, with profiles identifying as “Olympian” increasing by 52%. This phenomenon is drawing attention as athletes and fans alike flock to the dating app to connect in the “City of Love.”

A spokesperson for Tinder revealed a 25% rise in swipe activity in France since the start of July, coinciding with the commencement of the Games on July 24. Additionally, Tinder’s Passport Mode, which allows users to connect with people in different locations, has seen a 105% increase in activity directed at popular Parisian tourist sites. The top three countries using Passport Mode to switch their location to France are the US, Brazil, and Turkey.

Interest in sports has also peaked on the app, with football, basketball, and swimming being the most popular in user bios. Gymnastics and basketball have seen the fastest growth in interest, increasing by 31% and 14% respectively.

Tinder is also offering features for those who prefer privacy. Incognito Mode allows users to like and dislike profiles discreetly, ensuring that only those they like can see their profiles.

Meanwhile, Grindr, a leading LGBTQ+ dating app, has disabled location services in the Olympic Village for safety reasons. This precaution, first implemented during the 2022 Winter Olympics, aims to protect athletes from being outed in regions where being LGBTQ+ is dangerous or illegal.

In a similar spirit of supporting athletes, Dating.com is offering a free one-month subscription to all participating Olympic athletes, ensuring their time in Paris is as memorable off the field as on it.

The Paris Games are not only a celebration of sports but also a unique opportunity for global connections, with dating apps playing a significant role in bringing people together during this exciting event.
